1st Grade Waldorf Teacher – 2025/2026 School Year
Susquehanna Waldorf School is seeking a passionate and experienced Waldorf-trained teacher to join our vibrant community as a 1st Grade Class Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate would be committed to Waldorf education and dedicated to fostering a nurturing, creative, and engaging environment for young learners.

The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a teacher who has a strong foundation in Waldorf education, with experience teaching in the early grades of elementary school. Preference will be given to candidates with Waldorf training and certification. The ideal candidate will be:
- Knowledgeable in Waldorf methods : A deep understanding of Waldorf pedagogy, with experience applying it in the classroom.

Kindergarten Assistant
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate and dedicated Early Childhood Assistant Teacher. The Assistant will work closely with the Lead Teacher to create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for young children, following the principles of Waldorf education. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children in a hands-on, creative environment, and is passionate about early childhood development.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Classroom Support: Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom activities, including story time, circle time, all weather outdoor play, and helping with classroom routines.
- Snack Preparation: Prepare and serve healthy snacks to children each day.
- Transition Support: Help manage transitions throughout the day, offering gentle guidance and support to children.
- Festival Participation: Actively engage in and support class festivals and events.
- Behavior Modeling: Demonstrate positive behavior and actions in alignment with Waldorf pedagogical values.
- Collaboration: Attend regular planning meetings with the Lead Teacher to discuss classroom needs, reflect on teaching practices, and explore Waldorf education principles.
- Rest Time Supervision: Oversee children during rest time, ensuring a calm and peaceful environment while the Lead Teacher attends to other tasks.
- General Support: Assist with bathroom duties, outdoor exploration, and classroom maintenance, ensuring that children’s needs are met throughout the day.
- Physical Assistance: Be prepared to walk for long periods, assist children in outdoor activities, and support physical needs as they arise.
Qualifications:

- CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Relevant state and federal clearances to work in a school setting
- Experience or interest in early childhood education (Waldorf experience preferred but not required)
- Ability to work as a team member, with a positive and flexible attitude
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully and empathetically with young children
- Physically capable of assisting with outdoor activities and handling the physical demands of the role, including long periods outdoors.

Aftercare Lead Teacher
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Aftercare Lead Teacher to join our team for the 2025-2026 school year. This position involves creating a warm, engaging, and nurturing environment for children in our aftercare program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom Management: Arrange for the set-up and clean-up of the classroom to ensure an inviting and organized space for aftercare activities.
- Rhythm and Atmosphere: Create and maintain an atmosphere appropriate to the after-school rhythms, supporting a sense of balance and calm for the children.
- Play Supervision: Channel, supervise, and nurture both outdoor and indoor play, encouraging imaginative and cooperative activities.
- Group Transitions: Hold the group appropriately during transition times, ensuring smooth and respectful movement between activities.
- Parent Communication: Provide parents with information about the rhythms and events of the day in a clear and professional manner.
- Collaboration: Maintain open communication with the Aftercare Assistant, Class teachers, and parents to address special needs and requests.
- Team Leadership: Guide and work cooperatively with the assistant, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment.
- Child Safety: Ensure the safe transfer of children to their respective guardians – staff, parents, or other designated adults – at the end of the day.
Qualifications:
- A working knowledge of Waldorf philosophy and pedagogy.
- Previous experience as an assistant in a Waldorf program.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff.
